I would really like to see this as a game we will be covering. Am I alone on this one?

Darkfall needs to get a new website imo :)

But it does look interesting

Pirates of the Burning Sea will be published in partnership with Sony Online Entertainment’s Platform Publishing. This is an important deal for Flying Lab Software and we know how passionate our community is about this issue. So before you start posting your thoughts on our forums, let me share how this particular arrangement differs from publishing deals you may have read about in the past.

....just a tidbit of news for the Pirate fans :)

I think it is definitely a good thing for POTBS that they are going with SOE as their publisher. I think SOE is good at what they have them doing in this relationship :)

I can't wait to see them at Fan Faire!

Im not a Sony hater so much..but I really don't see how this isn't going to turn bad for Flying Lab just like it did for sigil...

They are totally different companies and they run themselves completely differently. Luckily FLS doesn't have a CEO that has peaced out for the past 8 months :P

They actually just answered this question in their IRC:

[18:17] <~[FLS]Rhaegar> <Illionore> How big is the chance that 'something' goes wrong in the department of financing/management, leading to a traumatizing situation as in Vanguard?
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rusty> Sorry, this is a long answer.
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rusty> Very, very small chance.
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rev> Everything will be fine as long as we're lucky at the tables during FanFaire.
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rusty> The reason is that we’ve been very responsible for how we’ve developed this project. Instead of throwing a big team on it at the beginning, and blowing through a lot of money while we figured out what the game is...
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rusty> we went with a very small team prototyping the game until we were happy with it, and then we brought the big production team on. We started with 6, and now we’re at 71.
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rusty> So instead of showing up hugely in debt, with staggering bills, we’re in pretty good shape.
[18:18] <@[FLS]Rusty> We can keep the whole team going with a very, very reasonable number of subscribers, though we think we’re going to do a lot better than that!
